OTAVAchemicals and Life Chemicals Inc announce research project for C-jun N-terminal Kinase (JNK)
OTAVAchemicals, a chemical and drug discovery technology Company focused on combinatorial chemistry, molecular modeling solutions and development of fluorescent probes, and Life Chemicals, specializing in synthesis of HTS compounds and custom synthesis for life science industries, are pleased to announce the launch of a joint research project aimed at evaluation of new and potent inhibitors of c-Jun N-terminal protein kinase (JNK). Of primary interest in this investigation is a neuronal-specific isoform of JNK (JNK3).
JNK is a stress-activated protein kinase that can be induced by inflammatory cytokines, bacterial endotoxin, osmotic shock, UV radiation and hypoxia. JNK activity is considered to be critical for both immune response and programmed cell death. Therapeutic inhibition of JNK may provide clinical benefit in diseases as diverse as arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, ischemic injury, myocardial infarction.
In the framework of this project, OTAVAchemicals will contribute its expertise in molecular modeling and
in vitro screening. The exclusive library of 50 000 compounds and synthetic work will be provided by Life Chemicals. In the near future both Companies are going to join their efforts in lead optimization projects as well.
